I have just had an amazing webshopping experience, and I didn’t even buy anything. Doesn’t mean that I won’t, though, on Monday 4 pm London time when Burberry Prorsum will launch their women’s A/W 2011 collection live at the London Fashion Week and the World Wide Web. Actually, this amazing pre-shopping experience makes it a lot more likely that I actually will end up breaking the bank and acquiring a couple of items.
So here’s what I got so psyched about: Burberry’s novel concept, called Runway to Reality and launched at the London fashion week last autumn, involves them streaming their show live on their website for everyone to watch (and I’m quite sure the seats are better than what 90 % of the people actually at the show end up with), and allowing you to purchase the items in the show from their website immediately after the it’s finished! We’re talking stuff that will hit the shops in July at the earliest here.

Also, should you be uncertain about something (or just feel a little lonely) you can always ”click to chat” or ”click to call” to be directly connected to their customer service – I just spent half an hour chatting with Maya, Jessica, and Viviana, from Burberry, about the upcoming collection and their service.

I kind of feel like we’re friends now, me and the gals from Burberry.
Ok, that sounded a little sad, but honestly, it’s an amazingly good way for companies to reach out to their online customers . All the while providing timely, good, personal customer service. Something to benchmark against I’d say.
So, to tell you a little more about the actual procurement part of this shopping sensation: The collection is made available immediately once the show is finished, and you have a week on you to place your orders. Orders will be charged in GBP, with the exception on US orders being charged in USD. Delivery is a little slow, 7 weeks, but it’s also free of charge for all items during the Runway to Reality week. Having said that, you will have to pay for incoming taxes and duties in your respective country. Some pieces will be limited, so you just might get to be both the first and the only one to be strutting around wearing your new Burberry Prorsum outfit in just seven weeks from now!
